The renowned stylish actor Edakallu Chandrasekhar known as Koodavalli Chandrasekhar – a child actor turned hero from ‘Edakallu Guddada Mele’ (Kannada film of SR Puttanna Kanagal in 1973) is returning after 14 years of ‘Poorvapara’ to direction.

With a pertinent issue of this universe ‘Justice Delayed is Justice Denied’ Chandrasekhar has shot for 28 days in Bengaluru and Ramanagar village (very near to where Sholay was shot). The farmer issues of not finding right price for their crops, drug abuse and abuse on women are the three main points touched in t his film. Dr Shivarajakumar has given the background voice after hearing to the contents of Edakallu Chandrasekhar.

It is based on Sunder Raj story Chandrasekhar has worked screenplay. Two Chandrasekhar daughters – Edakallu Chandrashekhar daughter Tanya Chandrasekhar (Bharatanatyam dancer and working in advertisement field in Bengaluru) and Hita Chandrasekhar daughter of Sihikahi Geetha and Chandrasekhar are in prominent roles with Siddarth and Vishwa playing heroes. The prominent title role is playing by Radha Ramachandra a veteran actress of over three decades in TV and cinema. Asha is in councilor role. Bidralli Vasu has penned dialogues; Sridhar Sambram has done background score. BS Basavaraj supported in cinematography with another cameraman.

Edakallu Chandrashekhar recalling his child actor days of ‘Namma Makkalu’, Vamsha Vruksha after turning hero he moved to Canada and made Tribanga before ‘Poorvapara’. It is a short story of Sunder Raj that was impressive and his friend Sunder Raj (another Sunder Raj) evinced interest in producing the film. Producer Sunder Raj hails from legal profession. As a matter of fact the real life issues handled in this film are to the notice of Hindi actor Nana Patekar who has taken it up as major issue in his life.

The film ‘Kempammana Court Case’ held premiere shows at Toronto as one of the wishes of Chandrasekhar. Later in Ottawa and Montreal the screening was held. In the screening at Bengaluru British High Commissioner, Canada diplomats watched the film and wished good luck to Chandrasekhar. The intension of having premiere abroad for a Kannada film ‘KC’ with English sub titles is to create market for Kannada cinema. It is only Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar and I on personal and professional front taken Kannada films abroad proudly say Chandrasekhar. It was ‘Poorvapara’ (based on MK Indira novel) travelled all over world says Chandrasekhar.


This is the first film in big screen I have got lot of scope to perform as Kempamma says Radha Ramachandra. In Doordarshan she has played similar role decades ago in ‘Neralu’ television film. The issues and situations stitched by Chandrasekharji in this film did not force me to apply glycerin. It was flow of tears naturally she claims. Manoranjane jothe Manochintane is the effort of this film says veteran actress.


Siddarth disheartened in the last seven years for not getting right roles was ready to pack his luggage to hometown. He got a call for this film and that really moved him when Chandrasekhar disclosed that he is playing lead in the film. Siddarth was in psycho, rapist roles in Kannada felt emotional with a big offer.


Vishveshwara is a young chap in his debut film is in ‘Pragathipara’ farmer says it was good learning experience for him. Tanya Chandrasekhar present at media briefing says she plays abused wife in this film. Her Paapa had to spent lot of chocolates to appease her for this film.

Venkatesh Prasad says this is a realistic issue well handled and portrayed in the film. This is a film for all in this society.


Asha is councilor to hero in this film. Producer Sunder Raj says Kaanoonu is good. But how it is delivered to society is slow. That is the trump card of our films he says.
